Who You Are
Keep telling myself who I am
Keep telling myself what I’m worth
No matter what hits me I’ve got to stand
In this world you need power to be heard
You’ll stumble, you’ll fall
Realise you’re alone among them all
And that expecting’s just hurting yourself
All they want is the world to be centred to them
So silence your thoughts and worries
Get rid of all the noise
Know that it’s only safe to feel
When you’ve got a better place to hide
So till then
Drown the pain
Turn the page
And write a new song
Fight the rage
Don’t complain
You’ll have to play along
Play along and be strong
Aim for the stars
Don’t be a captive in the critics’ claws
Find pride in your scars
And keep telling yourself who you are
The world’s neither friendly nor kind
There’s no place for a naïve mind
In this rat race, it’s hard to survive
But luckily, I was born to fight
I’m not perfect, that’s right, and can’t be
But I still strive for sublimity
Cause everyday, I gotta be better
No I won’t flock with them birds of a feather
Everyone has a purpose, I’m here to fulfil mine
That, though, I’m yet to find
But I’m not afraid to unwind, my part
I’ll listen to both my head and my heart
And when I find that hard
I’ll say
Beware and alert
Don’t jump in the dirt
Don’t be bothered by their words
Stay rooted upright,
Stand firm with your head high
Don’t be afraid of being outnumbered
Eagles fly alone, not with the others
And that’s not because they’re proud
But cause they’re not afraid to soar above the clouds
Find pride in your scars
And keep telling yourself who you are
(Yes, this is inspired from Chaos Walking XD )
*claps enthusiastically* This was very powerful and motivating!!
